Grossmont Women's Team Win First Match

The spring 2008 season is in full swing! We have a great group of 14 ladies this semester. 12 local tennis players from San Diego, one from Murrieta and one representing Korea.

We just returned from our first match vs. Santa Barbara City College. It was a great way to start the 08 season. This week brings more of a challenge. We play Saddleback College on Thursday at Saddleback

This season is going to be a long one and very fun one! We are tough from the top to the bottom of the line-up.

WTT San Diego 4.5 Official Start Date

The 4.5 division will begin their season on January 31st with eleven teams. Two teams will not have a home court; San Diego Roamers, and the Jolly Volleying Vagabonds.

Note: This season the La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club Matches will begin at 7pm.

Davis Cup Finals In San Diego

Hello Friends!

I wanted to tell you about my newest cause. If the USA beats Sweden in the Davis Cup Semi-Finals and if Russia beats Germany in the other half of the draw, the Davis Cup Finals will come to the United States . At the USTA's suggestion, I am working on potentially bringing the Davis Cup Finals to San Diego, November 30 to December 2. Unfortunately, as is always the case in this quest, time is very short - the bid do***ents are due on August 10th and the USTA will announce the bid winner on September 24, 2007 . However, I can't see just letting this opportunity pass us by so I have decided to take on the challenge of bringing this great event to San Diego .

Last Friday I managed to secure a commitment from the San Diego Sports Arena to serve as the host site. It is only one of two locations in San Diego that can handle the required crowd capacity of over 12,000 people (the Sports Arena can handle 13,500 people) for a Davis Cup finals so it now looks like a real possibility.

Griffin Tennis Season wrap-up for 2007

Hi Tennis Fans,
Another exciting tennis season has ended. Thank you for all the support this spring. The Lady Griffs ended the season at the so cal regional�s at Victor Valley College, while the men�s team qualified a singles player at the State Tournament (in beautiful Santa Cruz, Ca) who ended the season ranked top four in California. Some of the ladies have been very busy deciding where to go next�Bree came back from a trip to Arkansas Tech (which she liked very much), Joanna and Bree then went on a trip to Sonoma State. Michelle, who would like to get closer to home, is waiting to hear from Savannah State and Mary is thinking about USD or possibly a school in Georgia.

Any interested tennis players�summer tennis classes start up June 11. We hope to see some of you! Have a great summer. We thank you for all the support!
